Balasore, 18/9 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): On the occasion of the “Healthy Women, Empowered Families” campaign, a voluntary blood donation camp was organized today by Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital in collaboration with ‘Sambad – Ama Odisha’ at the Blood Bank premises.
The camp was conducted under the supervision of Blood Bank Officer Dr. Binay Bhushan Bihari. The event was inaugurated jointly by Prof. Santosh Kumar Tripathy, Vice-Chancellor of Fakir Mohan University, and Dr. Gnanendra Nath Behera, Dean and Chairman of the Medical College. They emphasized that every healthcare worker should maintain a dedicated attitude of service towards patients.
This was the second blood donation camp organized at the Medical College Blood Bank. Doctors, nurses, and staff of the medical college participated enthusiastically, donating blood themselves—a gesture that was highly commendable. Prof. Behera thanked all the blood donors for their contribution.
Other distinguished guests included Manorama Bhuyan, Administrative Officer of Fakir Mohan Medical College & Hospital, and Dr. Nivedita Karmi, Nodal Officer of Community Medicine, who encouraged the donors and supported the camp.
A total of 25 units of blood were collected during the camp. The collection process was led by senior technician Vijay Pattnaik of the Balasore Blood Centre, assisted by Blood Bank in-charge technicians Jyotish Pradhan, Jyotsnarani Swain, Prabhat Barik, and Pathology in-charge technician Lambodhar Behera. Sambad – Am Odisha representatives Lakshmidhar Barik and Manas Padhi managed the camp operations in coordination with the hospital staff, who provided full support throughout the event.
At the conclusion of the camp, Dr. Behera expressed his gratitude to all the blood donors for their valuable contribution.
