MP Ujjwal Extends Gratitude to Sonia Gandhi on Her Birthday
Prayagraj, December 10:
Prayagraj MP Ujjwal Raman Singh met Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on the occasion of her birthday and expressed his heartfelt gratitude for her significant role in facilitating the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital (KNMH) and Tata Trusts under AMU.
He said that people from Prayagraj and nearby districts have long been compelled to travel to Lucknow or Delhi for quality medical treatment due to the lack of advanced healthcare facilities. This remarkable initiative will ensure affordable and world-class cancer treatment for residents of Prayagraj and adjoining regions.
Providing this information, Vinay Kushwaha, representative of the MP, said that this MoU marks an important milestone for the region. The agreement focuses on the upgradation of Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital and the strengthening of specialized cancer care services.
Key Highlights of the MoU
Establishment of a world-class, comprehensive cancer care facility in Prayagraj.
Significant boost to cancer treatment infrastructure in North India.
Thousands of patients from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and neighboring states will benefit—patients who earlier had to travel to Mumbai (Tata Memorial Hospital) or Delhi for advanced care.
Tata Trusts have approved financial assistance of approximately ₹250 crore for the project. With this support, state-of-the-art equipment and new advanced departments have already been established or are under installation.
Major Upgradations Underway
Nuclear Medicine Department: Equipped with advanced technologies like PET-CT scan for precise cancer diagnosis and monitoring.
New MRI Unit: Enhancing diagnostic capabilities.
Linear Accelerator (LINAC) Machine: For modern and accurate radiation therapy.
Modern Infrastructure Development: Construction of new facilities and specialized departments across the hospital campus.
Several key units, including the Nuclear Medicine Department and the MRI Unit, have already become operational.
The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
MP Ujjwal Raman Singh said the MoU is a major leap toward making Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital a leading hub for cancer diagnosis and treatment in North India.
