Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Anu Garg today chaired a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan to assess the availability and supply chain of LPG (cooking gas), petrol, and diesel across Odisha amid recent national concerns over fuel stocks and global oil market fluctuations.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department, Sanjay Kumar Singh, along with senior officials from major oil marketing companies including AOCL, HPCL, and BPCLfrom the oil companies confirmed that there is sufficient stock of LPG, petrol, and diesel in the state. They assured uninterrupted supply from refineries and depots to distributors, retail outlets, educational institutions, and hospitals. There are currently no disruptions in the distribution network.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg advised the public not to panic or hoard fuel, emphasizing that adequate quantities are available state-wide. She directed the oil companies to maintain a balanced supply chain and ensure seamless availability at all consumer points.. To enhance transparency and curb misinformation, the Chief Secretary instructed both the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department and oil marketing companies to regularly disseminate updates through media channels and create public awareness about stock positions.
Additionally, oil companies have been asked to submit daily reports to the state Food and Consumer Welfare Department on the details shared with the Central Government regarding fuel availability in Odisha. This proactive review comes in the wake of recent rumours of fuel shortages in the state, which authorities have repeatedly dismissed as baseless. The government reiterated its commitment to stable and reliable supply of essential fuels for households and institutions.
