Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital is set to celebrate its 78th Foundation Day with a two-day programme titled Rajdhani Mohotsav-2026 on April 13 and 14, featuring ceremonial events, cultural performances, and public participation.
The celebrations will commence on April 13 with a morning session from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM at the Foundation Stone near PMG Square. The programme will include garlanding of the foundation stone, flag hoisting by the chief guest, and a ceremonial parade from Rabindra Mandap Square to Jaydev Bhawan. A photo exhibition showcasing the city’s journey and heritage will also be inaugurated at Jaydev Bhawan.
The evening session on April 13, scheduled from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Utkal Mandap, will host the Rajdhani Gourav Samman felicitation ceremony. Winners of various competitions will be honoured, followed by a cultural programme.
On April 14, the festivities will continue with another cultural programme from 6:00 PM onwards at Utkal Mandap, highlighting Odisha’s rich artistic traditions.
The two-day event aims to commemorate the foundation of Bhubaneswar as the capital city of Odisha while celebrating its cultural heritage through exhibitions, honours, and performances.
