Bhubaneswar: In a significant achievement for Odisha’s higher education and research ecosystem, six faculty members of Utkal University have been featured among the world’s top five percent scientists in the prestigious Science-Rank Global Registry 2025, a global ranking based on research output, scientific impact and scholarly contributions.
The distinguished academicians from the university who secured a place in the global registry are Prof. Srirup Goswami of the Department of Geology, Prof. Nigamananda Das, Emeritus Professor of Chemistry, Prof. Joydev Dinda, Director of Research and Development, Prof. Anath Bandhu Das, Emeritus Scientist from the Department of Botany, Dr. Himanshu Sekhar Rout of the Department of Analytical and Applied Economics, and Prof. Gagan Bihari Nityananda Chayeni, retired professor and former Head of the Department of Biotechnology and Zoology.
According to the university, the researchers earned global recognition for their pioneering work in diverse fields, including cancer therapeutics, green energy, plant genome mapping, oxidative stress, antioxidant defense mechanisms, redox biology and economic analysis. Their research has received widespread international acclaim and has been cited extensively by scholars across the world.
Congratulating the scientists on their accomplishment, Utkal University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Chandi Prasad Nanda said the recognition reflects the institution’s strong commitment to excellence, innovation and impactful research.
“This success is a reflection of Utkal University’s deep commitment to excellence and innovation in the field of research,” he said while extending his best wishes to the researchers for their future academic and scientific pursuits.
