Bhubaneswar: Odisha Assembly proceedings were stalled on the opening day of the monsoon session on Tuesday as opposition members created uproarious scenes over MMDR amendment and school textbook errors.Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress demanded the resignation of School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond over errors in school textbooks, repeal of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2026.As soon as the question hour began, BJD and Congress MLAs trooped into the well of the House and raised slogans against the BJP government over the textbook errors and the recent passage of the MMDR Amendment Bill 2026, in Parliament.
Continuous ruckus forced Speaker Surama Padhy to adjourn the proceedings twice, first till 1.10 pm and later till 4 pm, as the opposition members refused to restore normalcy.
