Kalahandi (Deepak Kumar Sahu): Vedanta Aluminium has won two Best Paper Awards at the 14th International Bauxite, Alumina and Aluminium Society (IBAS) Conference and Exhibition, held in Jharsuguda.
At IBAS 2022, Vedanta Aluminium presented 24 technical papers covering a wide range of areas, including artificial intelligence, digitalisation, refining, smelting, sustainability and resource recovery.
In the Aluminium Smelting category, the paper titled “Improvement in Carbon Anode Quality” received the Best Paper Award. The quality of carbon anodes is directly linked to operational performance in the aluminium smelting process. The paper highlighted measures to improve anode quality, enhance the stability and efficiency of the smelting process, and increase overall production efficiency.
In the Alumina Refining category, the paper titled “Bauxite Residue to Resource: Vedanta and Fertiliser Industry Partnership for a Circular Economy” was also recognised with the Best Paper Award. The paper explored the potential of converting bauxite residue into valuable resources through its utilisation in other industries, promoting resource recovery and the principles of a circular economy.
Vedanta Aluminium CEO Rahesh Kumar attended the conference and highlighted the importance of technology and innovation in building a future-ready aluminium value chain.
