Brajmohan Ram was sworn in as the new Governor of Odisha at a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court, Justice Harish Tandon, administered the oath of office to him.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, BJP State President Manmohan Samal, and ministers Prithviraj Harichandan and Suresh Pujari were among the dignitaries present at the swearing-in ceremony.
President Droupadi Murmu had appointed Brajmohan Ram as the new Governor of Odisha on October 12.
A senior BJP leader from Jharkhand, Brajmohan Ram was born on January 1, 1958, in Chandwa, in present-day Latehar district of Jharkhand. He completed his graduation from B.S. College, Lohardaga.
His political career began in 1991 when he was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly from the Latehar constituency, as Jharkhand was then part of undivided Bihar.
He subsequently represented the Palamu Lok Sabha constituency, winning the parliamentary elections in 1996, 1998 and 1999. He served as a Member of Parliament until 2004.
During his tenure in Parliament, Ram served on several parliamentary committees dealing with Home Affairs, Energy, Transport and Tourism, among other subjects. He also held organisational responsibilities in the BJP’s Scheduled Caste Morcha.
With decades of political and administrative experience, Brajmohan Ram has now assumed the constitutional responsibility of Governor of Odisha. He has previously emphasised education, unemployment, farmers’ issues and the overall development of the state as important priorities.
His tenure will be closely watched as Odisha continues to pursue its development goals and address key social and economic challenges.
