6 September 2025(Krushna Kumar Mohanty) Fakir Mohan University will mark World Suicide Prevention Week from 8th to 12th September 2025, with an array of programmes designed to break the silence around suicide, empower young minds, and build a stronger culture of mental health support.
‘Suicide is not an escape, it is a preventable tragedy. Through awareness, creativity, and collective responsibility, we can save lives,’ the University stated in its message that ‘ You deserve to live’ by announcing the week-long observance.
Under the guidance of honourable Vice-Chancellor Prof Santosh Kumar Tripathy, the series of programmes will begin with awareness lectures in affiliated colleges (Sept 8), followed by creative competitions—essays, debates, and drawings (Sept 9). The highlight will be an interactive seminar and mental health first-aid training (Sept 10) with eminent experts, including Prof. Ajit Kumar Mohanty, Dr. Narendra Singh Thagunna (Virtual), and Dr. Sashimani Mishra.
On Sept 11, a workshop on “Mental Health & Social Media – Balancing Digital Engagement and Emotional Well-being” will address the challenges of the digital era. The observance will conclude on Sept 12 with an expert session by Ms. Anchal Rekhani.
With this initiative, Fakir Mohan University seeks to send out a strong message: “Every life matters, and together we can create hope through action.”
