Balasore,(Krushna Kumar Mohanty):
In the writings of the late Bibhuti Bhushan Pradhan, the simplicity of rural life as well as the frailty of the human mind found an equally powerful expression. Every line of his work could make one laugh, weep, and reflect. He was indeed a painter of memories we have left behind.
It is often said that once a writer departs, discussions about them soon fade. Yet Bibhuti Bhushan Pradhan remains one of those rare exceptions whose stories continue to draw readers even after his passing.
To honour his memory, Matikhadi in collaboration with the Odisha Sahitya Akademi organised ‘Bibhuti Vibhava’ yesterday at the Red Cross Bhavan, Bhubaneswar celebrating his literary collection. Eminent storyteller Gourahari Das attended as Chief Speaker, while noted writer Harihar Shukla and Odisha Sahitya Akademi Secretary Chandrasekhar Hota graced the event as Guests of Honour.
Remembering the late Pradhan, both Gourahari Das and Harihar Shukla offered detailed reflections on his literary works. Secretary Chandrasekhar Hota also paid tribute by quoting some striking lines from his writings.
On the occasion, artist Jitendra Kumar Bhanja offered a heartfelt homage through his paintings. The programme began with a welcome address by Debabrata Das and concluded with a vote of thanks from Abinash Sahu.
Pradhan’s wife Premlata Raut, daughters Pritiprajna Pradhan and Ipsita Pradhan, along with a large gathering of admirers, were present and helped make the event a memorable success.
