The 27th Annual Function “Utkarsha” of Mayurbhanj College of Accountancy and Management, Maharajpur, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and grandeur.
Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Mamata Mohanta attended the programme as the Chief Guest and enriched the occasion with her presence. Former Principal of Laxmikanta College Dr. Pushparani Patra joined as the Chief Speaker and offered valuable guidance to the students. Former MLA of Baripada Shri Kishore Das graced the event as the Guest of Honour and shared motivating words with the gathering.
The programme was conducted under the chairmanship of College Principal Pradeep Kumar Nayak, while Vice-Principal Sanghamitra Rout presented the annual report.

On this occasion, Dr. Prafulla Kumar Behera, a distinguished son of Mayurbhanj and a retired officer from the Indian Legal Service, was honoured with the “Bhumiputra” Award for bringing pride to Mayurbhanj, Odisha and the nation through his legal advisory role to the Armed Forces and representation of India in international courts.
Renowned film actor and veteran sportsperson Asit Kumar Pati was conferred the “Bhanjashree” Award. Eminent lyricist, social worker and retired Principal of Rairangpur College Prof. Sunil Kumar Jena received the “Shikshashree” Award.
Students who excelled in indoor and outdoor competitions were felicitated. High achievers in academics were also honoured. Abinash Das was awarded Best Student of the Year, while Harihar Murmu was recognised as the Best NSS Volunteer. The Best Teacher Award was presented to Rupamanjari Behera, Head of the Botany Department.
The event concluded with a colourful cultural programme featuring two plays, songs, a ramp show and dance performances. The stage was coordinated by Botany lecturer N. Bijayalakshmi, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Gyanaranjan Panda, Head of the Law Department.
