
Balasore, Sept 10 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): In two separate incidents on Tuesday, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel rescued two minor boys from Shalimar and Kharagpur railway stations, ensuring their safe custody through Childline.
At Shalimar station, around 10:30 a.m., RPF staff found a 13-year-old boy loitering at the SRC end of Platform No. 1. Identified as Abhijit Murmu of Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal, the boy admitted he had left home without informing his parents and planned to travel to Hyderabad in search of work without a ticket. The child was rescued and later handed over to Childline, Howrah, by 2 p.m.
Later in the evening at Kharagpur station, around 6:50 p.m., RPF personnel spotted another minor wandering aimlessly on Platform No. 3. The boy, who had lost both parents, revealed that he had fled from Siliguri after a quarrel with his grandmother and was attempting to return to his aunt’s home in Patna. He was taken to the RPF post, given food and water, and after formalities, handed over safely to Childline, Kharagpur, by 8:30 p.m.
The swift actions of RPF at both stations prevented the vulnerable children from potential risks and ensured their protection through the appropriate authorities
