MP Ujjwal Meets Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Requests Reconsideration of Project
Prayagraj, December 4:
Prayagraj MP Ujjwal Raman Singh met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi, urging immediate reconsideration and approval for the widening of the Prayagraj–Mirzapur National Highway (NH-35).
Providing details, MP’s representative Vinay Kushwaha said that MP Ujjwal Raman Singh also submitted a detailed memorandum to the Union Minister, requesting that the earlier proposal— which had reportedly been cancelled— be re-evaluated and approved again.
He informed that the proposal for widening around 50 km of the Prayagraj stretch and 30 km of the Mirzapur stretch of NH-35 had previously been sent to the authorities. However, information gathered from newspapers and discussions with officials revealed that the project did not receive approval, and the DPR was cancelled, citing a new Greenfield Corridor Plan as the reason.
MP Ujjwal Raman Singh urged the Minister to reconsider and revive the project, stressing its crucial significance.
Importance of the Prayagraj–Mirzapur Highway
The route connects major sites of religious and archaeological importance.
Along with hosting mega events such as the Kumbh in Prayagraj, the highway also leads to the revered Vindhyavasini Dham in Mirzapur.
The national highway is essential not only for religious tourism but also for general commuter traffic.
Widening the road will greatly improve convenience and safety for lakhs of travelers.
Vinay Kushwaha informed that responding positively to the request, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari instructed officials to take quick and favorable action on the matter. Gadkari assured that while the Greenfield project will be considered when the time arises, the widening of this important existing route should proceed without delay.
MP Ujjwal Raman Singh expressed gratitude to the Union Minister for his prompt and supportive response.
