74th Republic Day celebrated at Kaniha
The 74th Republic Day was celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm at NTPC Kaniha on 26th January.Shri K S Sundaram,Executive Director ,NTPC Talcher Kaniha unfurled the National flag at the Ambedkar Stadium and took salute the of a combined march past of students of Township Schools, scouts and guides, CISF jawans and DGR security jawans.
Shri R N Das, GM(Project),Shri Y M Muralikrishna, GM(operations),Shri CH Satya Ramakrishna,GM(ADM),Shri B K Pandey, AGM(HR),Shri Brij Mohan Singh,Dy Commandant, CISF Kaniha wing,senior members of Tanvi Sangam Ladies Club, representatives of unions and Association,HODs and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.Tri colour balloons were released to mark the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Sundaram extended Republic Day greetings and traced the rapid march of India towards a developed nation.He said that NTPC was also on a fast track of growth always scouring for opportunities across the energy chain to expand and diversify its portfolio.
Describing NTPC Kaniha as a jewel in the crown of Odisha, he said that the station has established itself as a reliable Power generating unit.With its Safety first policy and systematic approach, the station had made significant progress in the past and current financial years. Conferring of the CII ITC Sustainability Award for Corporate Excellence, NTPC Swarn Shakti Awards for Environment and Runners -up (overall Champions) ,Kalinga Safety Award and Greentech Effective Safety Culture Award were some of the indicators, he said.
We must continue our good work and focus on improvement on all fronts,he added.
Shri Sundaram stated that the station was supporting the government events at district and local levels in different areas like Angul Mela,blood donation camps,organising cricket tournaments, sports etc through its CSR arm.The mobile medical unit of Kaniha has been providing free health care service in the surrounding villages for the past one year,he added.
He extended his gratitude to the District and police Administrations, People’s representatives, the local community,media persons and other stakeholders for their continued support and cooperation in day to day running of the Power station.
Altogether ninety employees received Head Of Project Meritorious awards for their outstanding performance in their respective areas of work, both in the Individual and team categories.
Shri Suresh Chandra Behera,AGM (AHD) received the Manveeta Puraskar 2023,Shri Phul chand Pradhan, Oprator Gr I of Operations department, Shri Nabei Kumar Sahoo,Operator GR III of MGR department received the Employee of the year 2023 award, while Ms Rajshree Mohanty, Sr Manager(HR) and Ms Piyali Chaterjee, Asst Manager,(Oprn) received Women’s Achiever award 2023.
Students of Township schools, SSVM, KV,DAV,Evershine Nursery School, besides Bal Bhawan and members Tanvi Sangam Ladies Club made a colourful cultural presentation with patriotic fervour at the Republic Day function.
Later Shri Sundaram and other dignitaries visited the Hospital and distributed fruits to the patients recuperating there.
The national flag was also unfurled at Administrative Building premise by Shri R N Das GM (Project) in the morning.
