Saina Salonika led Delhi University to become Champion in the North Zone Inter University Chess Tournament
Woman International Master Saina Salonika of Odisha led the Delhi University Team to win the North Zone inter university chess tournament which was concluded on 9th Feb 2023 at New Delhi. Delhi University team comprising WIM Saina Salonika of Miranda House College, Srimati R of Lady Sriram College , Arushi Kotwal of Indraprastha College ,Taniska Kotia, Purnima Gupta of Sriram College of Commerce (SRCC)Palkin Kaur of Jesus &Mary College , defeated all their five opponents I.e 1)Guru Jambheswar University of Science and Technology
2)Lovely Professional University
3)Punjabi University, Patiala
4)Punjab University, Chandigarh
5)CSJM University, Kanpur.
They won all the five matches
Saina won all the four games she played and gave chance for one game to one reserve player. Saina is the only Woman International Master (WIM) in the team with having highest International rating of 2223.While Punjab University Chandigarh secured 2nd position, Punjabi University Patiala secured Third position
Earlier Saina also led the Miranda House college for Bronze medal ( Third Prize) in the inter college chess tournament . Miranda House college won three games ,drew one and lost one game against their opponents

Principal of Miranda house college Professor Dr Bijayalaxmi Nanda , Sports Director Professor Dr Amrita Rana and sports coordinator Dr Neeru Yadav congratulated Saina and her team mates for the achievement in the inter college and inter university tournament .
