Workshop on CPR by Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Bhageerath

Department of Biotechnology, NIT Warangal hosted a one-day live demonstration and workshop on Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with mannequins. In this programme, Dr. Bhageerath Atthe, an Interventional Cardiologist from Bhageerath Cardiac Care Center, has addressed the gathering about reasons behind recent sudden increase in cardiac arrests , difference between heart attack and cardiac arrest and explained the Symptoms, prevention and how can we identify heart diseases priorly. Because of our reduced sleep, night duties, work pressures, targets stress levels have been increasing and leading to young age hypertension and stroke, he said. He also explained the post covid effects on heart and how can we cure ourselves from post covid damage. Dr. Bhageerath Atthe has delivered a Live CPR demonstration with mannequins and has encouraged a few students to perform CPR on the dais.
Dr.Bhageerath has requested the Biotechnology department and other engineering students to contribute to research and invent many devices like pacemakers, ICDs, Impella , so that it will be cost-beneficial for patients.
Head of the Department, Prof. K. Narasimhulu has addressed the gathering and encouraged the students to actively involve in such activities in the future.
Dr. Perugu Shyam, Faculty advisor, explained the recent cardiac arrest outbreaks in various parts of the country without any discrimination based on age or gender and stated the urgent need to raise awareness about this issue. With this motto, he has organized this awareness programme in the institute to educate the Students and Faculties of NITW about cardiac arrests and their prevention. He also stated that many such programmed shall be organized in the future.
