Rajdhani College, University of Delhi Organise Seminar on “Perceptions and Misperceptions in Emerging Sino-Indian Strategic Equation”

On May 3, Extension Lecture Series, Rajdhani College organised a seminar on “Perceptions and Misperceptions in Emerging Sino-Indian Strategic Equation.” It began with the felicitation of esteemed speaker of the session Prof. Rajesh Rajagopalan ( CIPOD ,Shool of International Studies,JNU ) by Prof. Rajesh Giri (Principal Rajdhani College) and Prof. Sushil Dutt (Convenor “Extension Lecture Series”) , seminar was also graced with the presence of Prof. Suman Kumar , Dr. Naval Kishore , Dr. G. P. Bairwa , Dr. Rajbir Singh and all the faculty members of different departments of Rajdhani College.
In the beginning Ms. Mhadeno Jungi (Faculty member of Political Science Department and Host of the event) introduced the topic and welcomed all the dignitaries to the seminar and firstly invited Prof. Rajesh Giri (Principal Rajdhani College) for his welcoming address, who-while enlightening everyone present in the seminar-emphasised on economy of the countries and considered it as the main ingredient in foreign policy instead of weapons and war ,he also concentrated on Sino-Indo ralations,Cold war dynamics,Emergence of super powers , Employment of youth and while giving his closing remarks stated that “We must think about how can we utilise our human resource for trade market and production,Let us empower our youth and enter in the manufacturing sector to compete with our neighbouring countries”.
Then Prof. Sushil Dutt (Convenor “Extension Lecture Series”) graced the session with his enlightening words on post independence relations of India and China by presenting historical perspective , official talks and treaties between two countries ,he stated that “we can not develop friendly relations with China but can emphasis on working relations with it” ,he also discussed “Tibet issue” between the two countries and shed light on 1962 war and emphasised on how can we develop our software and other sectors to compete China instead of manufacturing sector.
Moving forward esteemed speaker of the seminar Prof. Rajesh Rajagopalan presented his words of wisdom ,He covered various dimensions of Sino-Indo relations and emphasized on strategic equation by dividing the topic into four different themes, and focused on rapidly changing international conditions. He further said, “we are at point of power transition where China can dominate world but we are not sure about it and transition is always time taking as in cold war era too, situation changed time to time but the fundamental remained same.”
Then seminar was followed by questions answer round in which enlightening questions were asked by teachers and students of different departments
At the end Ms. Mhadeno Jungi and Dr. Sasmita Mohanty delivered Vote of Thanks and concluded the seminar.
