Agriculture Conclave on Agriculture, Farmers and Youth

The state government is always working towards the development of Odisha’s agriculture and farmers. Agriculture is the measure of our state’s economy. Considering the development of agriculture and farmers as the main mantra, Shyamala Subarna, a quarterly magazine based on agriculture, was started by the students of agriculture from 2018. Designed by agriculture students, this magazine strives to engage rural farmers in organic farming and increase their skills. We have been working for 5 years in the direction of how the agricultural schemes brought by the government can be easily reached to the farmers and the farmers can be the real beneficiaries. Being established from a magazine, it is now closer to the farmers, including one-day farmer awareness camps, Millet workshops by promoting the Millet Mission, and providing various types of training to fish farmers. Shyamal Subarna Agro Pvt Ltd is now conducting various programs to make organic farming more popular among farmers and is also imparting education on new agricultural techniques to farmers in about 12 districts. For the first time in Odisha, an agricultural conclave has been organized at Red Cross Bhavan, Bhubaneswar on Sunday, May 7, designed by agriculture students. Farmers and youths of the state have been brought together to discuss the development of agriculture. Meals for the International Millet Year included dishes from Mandia. Hon’ble MP Rajya Sabha Dr Amar Patnaik inaugurated the gathering as the chief guest and spoke about how the development of agriculture is the foundation of nation building. As the keynote speaker, Dean Agriculture Extension Dr Prasanajit Mishra gave his views on the development of organic agriculture. State Planning Board Member Dr. Prasanna Pattsani, Shyamala Subarana Group’s Advisory Administrator Soumashree Panigarahi and Senior Journalist Dr Pabitra Mohan Samantaray attended as the guest of honour. In this conclave, Chhayarani Sahu, Upendra Biswal and Gyana Ranjan Das were felicitated as successful farmers, Krishna Lintas Behera as a young writer, Anil Mishra of AIASA, Satya Prakash Nanda, DEAN of Centurion University, Debtanu Barman as successful young entrepreneur , Bodhisattva of IG Drone as best start up. In addition, three panels were organized under the title of Magical Crop millet , Agricultural Entrepreneurship – An Overview, Fisheries Development of Odisha – Dreams and Possibilities with the coordination of agriculture, farmers and scientists. More than 150 farmers, agricultural students, agricultural scientists from all over Odisha participated in this conclave. . The program was organised by Bigyan mihir rout,b Bhubananda Abhikari, Shubhashree Sahu and Pragya Parmita.
