Kolkata Press Club criticized the conflict and harassment of the journalists while covering the panchayat election nominations. The Press Club demands taking steps against it and seeks to provide extra safety and security for the reporters mentioned in the letter written to West Bengal Election Commissioner Rajiv Sinha.
Bharti Shramjivi Patrkar Sangh national president Sanjay Singh & general secretary Shahnawaz Hassan supported the Kolkata press Club demands for the security of field reporters and photo journalist.

In the letter, it is said the democratic election is an important process, so the entire procedure of election process plays a crucial role. After the immediate announcement of West Bengal Panchayat Election, the state witnessed several incidents of conflicts and violence in different places. Some journalists and camerapersons were attacked and beaten up on ground who are covering the State Panchayat Election nominations.
Kolkata Press Club highly slams about the disturbance to the journalists in the Bengal Panchayat Polls. The club requests safety for the working reporters and camera persons for the upcoming polls from the police and administration. Journalists and camerapersons need to be active during election campaigns at the time of polls as well on the day of announcement of election results, they must visit different spots for gathering news, information, and collecting photographs. Journalists are an inseparable part of the ongoing process of election. In such circumstances, their security is also equally relevant. In this time, Kolkata Press Club demands full security for the sake of journalists and camerapersons.
It is therefore expected that the Election Commission, State Police, Administration and all the Political parties give much attention to this issue so that harassment and violence caused to the journalists could be stopped.
