Swachhta Campaign – Massive Cleaning Drive at NIT Warangal

Swachhta Campaign was organized this morning from 7:00 AM – 09:00 AM at NIT Warangal. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi, Director NIT Warangal said “we should all aim to create a clean campus and work in the direction of providing very quality environment to all our stakeholders. This time, the cleaning drive is organized to cover larger areas. Soon our students who are on vacation will join us and we shall continue to organize such campaigns every month and sensitize all our stakeholders to use dustbins to throw waste and minimize the use of single use plastic. I am sure very soon with all our effort, our institute will be one of the cleanest educational institutions in the country.” He expressed his sincere appreciation to the Engineering Maintenance unit and the Campus Development Committee for driving the event. Director also conveyed his heartful thanks to the media for covering such an important event. “All good initiatives that NIT Warangal is taking are widely covered in media and I must express my sincere gratitude to them. The message through media will reach to lakhs of people and we never know whom we are inspiring through media, and this inspiration could lead to making our country clean.” He stated. Pledge was taken by the volunteers to keep the environment clean and work for at least 100 hours per year on cleanliness. Around 300 volunteers were divided into four groups and were allotted different areas to participate in the cleaning drive. Every volunteer enthusiastically participated in the drive for two hours. Later, the engineering maintenance unit continued the drive until the evening.
