Rajdhani College and All India Radio Celebrate G20 Presidency of India

All India Radio Delhi began its 50-day long celebrations starting from Rajdhani College, Delhi. On this occasion, the entire team of All India Radio who conducts “Mann Ki Baat” programm of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, was present at Rajdhani College.
A G20 programme on “Environment and Sustainable Development” was organized by the Extension Lecture Committee, Rajdhani College in collaboration with All India Radio.
The Chief Guest of the occasion was Dr. Subhash Sharma, former Secretary, Government of India. The Guest Speaker of the event was Mr. Manohar Singh Rawat, Assistant Director, AIR Delhi, Program Head Mann Ki Baat. Principal Prof. Rajesh Giri, Convener of Extension Lecture Series Prof. Sushil Dutt, and teachers and students from Rajdhani College were present on the occasion. Prof. Sushil Dutt in his welcome address strongly criticized the double standards of the environmentalists of the Western countries and at the same time he also suggested that the Indians must realize their duties. Prof. Rajesh Giri, Principal, Rajdhani College, in his speech emphasized on the importance of environment and ecology and said that the civilized society and urban people must come forward and take responsibility to safeguard the mother earth. He also spoke about how India’s culture, customs are interlinked with ecology. India can become a world leader in the campaign to save the environment. The chief guest of the event, Dr. Subhash Sharma, while speaking, questioned the development model of western countries and pointed out how western countries are harming both the environment and the earth many times more and are back tracking from their responsibility of environmental protection. In this program, Haryana’s folk singer Vidhi Deshwal mesmerized everyone with her Bhajans and patriotic songs on Bhagat Singh referring to Vijay Diwas of India’s victory in Kargil War. Students of the college also gave their speeches in the declamation competition on the topic “Environment and Sustainable Development. The program ended with the vote of thanks presented by Pramod Kumar, Programme Executive, All India Radio.
