(KCN):The Bharatiya Adim Jati Sevak Sangh, New Delhi, an Oldest-Established
National Level Voluntary Organisation was Established by A.V. Thakkar, a Close
Associate of Mahatama Gandhi with Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of
Republic India as the Founder President way back in 1947-48.
The BAJSS is an Umbrella National Organisation and an Apex Body of
Registered Institutions Under Societies Registration Act. either Affiliated to or
Recognised by the National Executive Committee from across the country.
Presently, there are, more than 105 Recognised Organisations from various
States of India are Affiliated / Recognised by the BAJSS. There are also 25 Direct
Managed Branches working all over the country. The BAJSS have the Grass
root Network of Workers and Institutions together right from China Border of
Arunachal Pradesh to Manipur, Assam and Nagaland in sensitive North Easter
States, Western, (include Dadra Nagar Haveli) Eastern, Northern (includes New
Delhi) and (J & K) and Southern States. (Includes Pondicherry). As Such, this
BAJSS have the Presence felt in 27 States of India with Manpower and Services.
From Odisha Leading Voluntary Organisations of 1960-70 are affiliated
such as 1) Utkal Nabjeevan Mandal, Angul, 2) Banabasi Seva Samiti, Baliguda
(Kondhamal), 3) Sarvodaya Samit, Gandhi Nagar, (Koraput) , 4) Servant of India

Society Odisha Branch (Chaudwar), 5) Adivasi Vikash Samiti, Sarenda Barbil
(Keonjhjar), 6) Service to Humanity Foundation (Rourkela), Odisha, 7) Seva
Samaj, Gunupur, Raygada and 9) Direct Managed Branch at Bhubaneshwar
working for Mayurbhanj District (Odisha).
The Biggest National Voluntary Organisation owns its building located in
New Delhi Central place at Jhandewalan Link Road, New Delhi named after
Thakkar Bapa Smarak Sadan, as it’s National Head Quarter.
It is a Proud Privilege of Odisha that, a former fire brand Tribal Student
leader of his time, Trade Union Activist, Educationist and National Level Social
Activist Sh. Nayan Chand Hembram (N.C. Hembram) is heading the BAJSS as
the National President. I had a Privilege to visit it’s National Head Quarter where
an Unique International Tribal Museum and a Mega Library of Tribal CulturalSocial-Costumes-Social Habits-Freedom struggle and different facet of Tribals
life style is housed. The BAJSS is going to observe it’s Diamond Jubilee
Celebration on completion of 75 years of dedicated services to the Tribals and
other down Trodden communities in the month of October, 2023. The
contribution of Shri N.C. Hembram is beyond words who hails from Mayurbhanj.
