One-day Workshop on “First Research Advisory Committee”

“NIT Warangal to organize Research Conclave inviting Deans(R&C) from all NITs very soon,” said Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi, Director, NIT Warangal
A Workshop “The first RAC meeting” was organized at the Ambedkar Learning Centre, NIT Warangal. In the day-long all-faculty meeting, the committee members were acquainted with the R&D activities of the Institute.
The Director of the National Institute of Technology Warangal, Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi, constituted the Research Advisory Committee (RAC) committee and the objectives of the RAC are to review the research and development activities at NIT Warangal and give a direction toward achieving excellence in R&D. This committee has seven highly accomplished academicians across the country. Dr. Tata Narasinga Rao (Director, ARCI-Hyderabad), Prof. Amit Prashant (IIT-Gandhi Nagar) and Dr. Ramanuj Narayan (Director, IMMT, Bhubaneswar), Prof. M. Chandrasekhar (Director, IIM-Visakhapatnam), Prof. Santosh Dwivedy (IIT Guwahati), Prof. Sudip Misra (IIT-Kharagpur), Prof. Vivek Agarwal (IIT Bombay). Dr. Tata Narasinga Rao and Prof. Amit Prashant joined physically while other members joined online.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi, Director of NIT Warangal explained the need and objectives of the RAC and spelled out his expectations from the faculty regarding their research activities. Prof. V.T. Somasekhar, Dean (Research & Consultancy) presented an overview of the research activities of the institute. This was followed by the presentations of the Heads of the Departments who reported the research activities of their respective departments in detail.
In the post-lunch session, the Members reviewed the research activities of the institute. While appreciating the quality and quantity of the research work that is taking place in the institute, they emphasized the requirement for collaborative and interdisciplinary research and translating academic research into viable technologies with societal impact and industry adoption.
In his closing remarks, the Director, Prof. Subudhi reviewed the comments of the experts and shared his vision regarding the R&D activities of the institute. He declared that a Research Conclave would soon be held in the institute to exchange ideas of all Deans (Research & Development) across all the NITs of the country. He said this conclave would lead to a strong confederacy of the NITs. This event would be followed by the Research Fair, wherein all the NITs would showcase their research activities. Prof. P. Srihari proposed the vote of thanks.
