Acute disturbance in Kakatpur BJD
Prafull in the role of trump card
Bhubaneswar, 31.8 () Kakatpur Constituency, known as 105 Assembly constituency of our state, consists of 15 panchayats of Astarang block, 16 panchayats of Kakatpur block, 14 panchayats of GOP block and Konark notified area councils. The total number of voters in the constituency is 2 lakh 20 thousand 5 22 while in the last election 1 lakh 70 thousand 889 people cast their vote. Tusar Kanti Behera, who left the Bharatiya Janata Dal in the 2019 elections and contested on the BJD ticket, was elected as an MLA and is now a minister in the state government. He got a total of 53.68 percent of the votes and won by a margin of 45 thousand 691 votes. A humble, highly educated, polite and simple personality, Minister Shri Behera stepped into politics from his teaching career and started his political career from the BJP. However, he joined the BJD party before the last assembly election and was elected as MLA for the first time and has been working as a minister for five years now.
In this constituency, which is called the stronghold of the BJD party, since 2009, the party workers are always in conflict before the elections due to intense factional conflicts within the party. Here the BJD is now divided into two parts. One group of BJD is supporting Minister Tushar Kanti while another group is supporting former MLA Surendra Sethi which was proved in the last panchayat samiti election. After the constituency was reserved since 2009, BJD has been changing its candidates every 5 years. The party is said to be looking for a new candidate who is undisputed and actively works with the party organization at the grassroots level if the conflict between the supporters of both the Minister Mr. Behera and former MLA Mr. Sethi continues. In this context, it has been informed by reliable sources that the party has decided to nominate BJD youth leader and social activist Prafulla Kumar Behera as a trump card candidate.
Prafulla Kumar Behera started his political career from the grassroots level and got his wife elected as Astarang Pachayatsamiti member. In 2012, he was the General Secretary of Astarang Block BJD. Actively working in electoral party programs and working in voluntary organizations for 20 years, Mr. Behera is an accredited trainer of State Rural Development Institute, Livelihood Mission and Mission Shakti and providing training to health workers, ANM and ASHA workers under National Health Mission of State Government along with MBK, CRP. As an undisputed disciplined BJD worker, he can take all the groups with him and bring the party to a respectable position in the constituency.
