Blood, Sweat, and Compassion: Satyabrat Lenka’s Humanitarian Contributions
Bhubaneswar ,(KCN): In the annals of history, there are heroes who don’t make headlines but leave an indelible mark on society through their selfless contributions. Satyabrat Lenka, a name synonymous with blood donation, hails from the legendary village of Kuhudi in Odisha. This village, steeped in history, played a crucial role during the Freedom Movement, particularly during the iconic Salt March led by Mahatma Gandhi.
Kuhudi, nestled under the Astaranga block of Puri District, witnessed the fervor of the Salt Satyagraha, Dandi March, and Dandi Satyagraha. Influenced by Gandhi’s call for nonviolent civil disobedience, the village became a hub for freedom fighters who endured British repression and united to strategize the freedom movement from its soil.
Today, Satyabrat Lenka, a torchbearer of this historic legacy, reached an astonishing milestone – his 54th unit of donated blood. This remarkable achievement took place at a Mega Blood Donation camp organized by “Jiban Bindu Abhiyan,” spearheaded by the “Odisha Mo Parivaar Astaranga Unit.” The event saw the presence of esteemed guests, including the Honorable Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, and Home Department, Government of Odisha, Tushar Kanti Behera, District Coordinator of Jiban Bindu Subhashish Khuntia, Vice-Chairman of Zilla Parishad Puri, Swadhin Kumar Nayak, Block BJD prasident Kedar Nath Biswal, Block youth BJD prasident ,Prasant Nayak , minister’s representative Bhimasen Swain, District counsil member Saraswati Swain, Banita Behera. In total, 145 units of blood were collected during this noble endeavor.
Satyabrat’s journey of blood donation commenced at the tender age of 17, and over 25 years, he has generously donated 54 units of blood at various Bed Patient and blood donation camps. His commitment to serving humanity doesn’t stop at blood donation; he is also renowned for his contributions to the underprivileged, particularly the physically disabled and impoverished individuals on the streets, providing them with food and essential needs.
Furthermore, Satyabrat extends his support to needy students, ensuring they receive the necessary educational support for a brighter future. His association with the Freedom Fighter Memorial Trust of his village aims to mobilize the youth towards an addiction-free society, carrying forward the legacy of Kuhudi’s freedom fighters.
