Gramin Sambadik Kalyan Yojana Launched: Health Card ‘SUBIDHA’ Distributed to Journalists
Bhubaneswar, (KCN): On the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the Organization of Odisha United Working Journalists (OUWJ) hosted the launching ceremony of the “Gramin Sambadik Kalyan Yojana.” The primary goal of this welfare scheme is to provide healthcare services to journalist communities who face challenges in accessing medical treatment for their parents and family members, especially if they are not covered by any insurance scheme. Under this initiative, journalists were provided with a health service card called “SUBIDHA,” in association with Hi-tech Medical College & Hospital, initially in Bhubaneswar, with plans to expand to other hospitals in different locations.
The inauguration of this significant welfare event was carried out by Sj. Bijay Kumar Pattanaik, former Chief Secretary of Odisha, in the presence of Sj. Dr. Arabinda Dhali, MLA of Jayadev, Suresh Kumar Panigrahi, Managing Trustee of Hitech Hospital, Dr. Chandan Samantara, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Pabitra Mohan Samantaray, Advisor, Kishore Dwibedi, Chairman of OUWJ, and Pravat Ranjan Biswal, Chairman of Gramina Sambadika Kalyan Yojana. Each guest addressed the audience, highlighting the importance of this welfare scheme for journalist fraternities. Dr. Tirupati Panigrahi, Chairman of Hitech Hospital, was the service provider for this initiative.
Sanjay Das, President of the OUWJ, shared insights into the welfare activities and services provided to journalists, starting from the corona pandemic period to the present. Rajanikant Samantaray, Vice Chairman, emphasized that the scheme aims to benefit 10,000 journalists across Odisha. Hrushikesh Mohanty, General Secretary, discussed additional welfare schemes and benefits intended to strengthen and support all journalists. Around 150 journalists attended the program and received Health Cards from the distinguished guests, underscoring the success of the initiative and the collaborative effort of the journalist community.
