Utkal Journalists Demand Action : 6-Point Protest Shakes Legislative Grounds
Bhubaneswar , (KCN): In a powerful display of solidarity, members of the Utkal Journalist Association surrounded the state legislature pressing for immediate attention to their six critical demands. Led by State President Bibhuti Bhushan Kar, the journalists rallied at Lower PMG, Bhubaneswar, calling for the introduction of the Journalist Protection Act, pension for senior journalists, expanded health insurance, media academies establishment, accreditation committee reorganization, and unhindered access to government offices including Lok Seva Bhawan.Mr. Kar presiding over the protest, issued a warning that the agitation would intensify across the 30 districts if their demands were not met promptly. The assembly featured impassioned speeches from influential figures including Advisor Pradosh Kumar Pattnaik, senior journalist Rabi Das, Sanat Mishra, Editor- in- chief of Daily ‘Paryabekhyak’ and ‘ The Kalinga Chronicle ‘ Dr. Pabitra Mohan Samantray, Pitabash Mishra,Sugyan Chowdhury,Srimaya Kar, Niranjan Biswal,Bipin Singh, Kishor Dwivedi,Bankim Chandra Nayak,Pappu Mohanty,
Secretary general Benudhar Panda, Purna Chandra Nayak, Pramod Pattnaik,Haradhan Banerjee,Rajen Chowdhury,Rabi Narayan Mishra, Tribikram Ramakrishna Mohapatra,Kamal Lochan Dixit.
Prominent political figures including Opposition Leader Mohan Majhi , MLA Kusum Tete, Mukesh Mahaling,Nauri Nayak, Subash Panigrahi and Sajjan Sharma expressed their support for the journalists’ cause. The former MP Tathagat Satpathy declared unwavering solidarity with the Journalists’ Union, promising to stand by them until their demands were met. The ball is now in the government’s court as the Utkal journalists Association stand united, determined and ready for further action.
