Information on Menstrual Hygiene and Breast Cancer Provided at Health Camp

The Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) Jolly Grant, in association with the Himalayan Hospital, organized a health camp at GGIC Dehradun. During this event, students were informed about menstrual hygiene and breast cancer.

The Department of Community Medicine at HIMS Jolly Grant, in collaboration with the Ramini Social Organization, organized the health camp at GGIC, located on Rajpur Road in Dehradun. Doctors conducted comprehensive health check-ups for the students, distributed medications, and provided them with sanitary pads. Under the guidance of Dr. Ashok Kumar Srivastava and Dr. Jayanti Semwal, a session on menstrual hygiene and breast cancer was held. Dr. Shaily Vyas and Dr. Neha Sharma explained the health impacts of poor menstrual hygiene, including infections and other health risks. They emphasized the importance of using clean and safe menstrual products and proper disposal methods. They also provided training on the use of sanitary pads and cloth pads and how to maintain menstrual hygiene. An informative book manual on menstrual hygiene, covering the menstrual cycle and the changes occurring during adolescence, was distributed to the young women.

Members of the Youth Council for Breast Health SRHU Chapter, Bhumi Pathak and Gauri Bhatia, educated the students about the basics of breast cancer, its risks, symptoms, warning signs, and methods for breast examination. Dr. Sanchi Goyal, Dr. Riya Jain, Dr. Ravisha Garg, Dr. Swati Bisht, Rita Bhatt, Hariom Prasad, Ayush Chandola, Vandana Srivastava, and Shivani Tiwari contributed to the successful conduct of the health camp.
