Rashtriya patrakaar Mahasangha Demands fourth pillar status for media on Constitution Day
Bhubaneswar/ 26-11// A huge signature campaign has been started at the State Headquarters today, at the call of the Rashtriya Patrakaar Mahasangha,New Delhi, near Master Canteen Chowk, demanding fourth pillar status for media on the occasion of Constitution Day. Supporting this campaign, more than 100 media representatives from major trade unions registered in the state, organisation of united working journalists, , the Indian Media Council, the Odisha Media Council,Council, as well as ISFMN, NMC, and many media organizations including the Digital Media Federation have joined hands and raised their voices to fulfill our demands. Not only in Bhubaneswar, similar campaigns have been conducted by the state branches of the Rashtriya patrakaar Mahasangha in most of the state capitals of the country. National President Dr. Pabitra Mohan Samantray, who led the campaign, addressed the media workers and said that there is a lot of buzz everywhere about the media as the fourth pillar, but unlike the other three pillars, the media workers have been deprived of all basic amenities for 75 years because the media has not been given any constitutional dignity. Therefore, this forum will work on all the problems of journalists. In a memorandum, the Central Government and His Excellency the President have been informed and expressed the hope that efforts will continue for a speedy resolution.
