RASHTRIYA PATRAKAAR MAHASANGH ( RPM) convened an urgent meeting at the INS Conference Hall, Delhi, to address the escalating attacks on journalists and the pressing need to ensure their safety. Themed “Protecting Journalists and Safeguarding Democracy,” the event united distinguished media professionals and thought leaders who called for immediate measures to uphold journalists’ rights and freedoms.

The program began with a warm welcome to the chief guests, who were honored with mementos and shawls. Notable attendees included Naresh Bansal, Member of Parliament and Deputy National Election In-Charge of the BJP, as the chief guest. Other eminent personalities were RSS thinker Sri Suryakanta Kelkar, Dr. Mallika Gautam, Supreme Court Advocate, Advocate Khitiz gautam, Arun Goyal, Chairman of IFSMN; ,Surinder Verma, Deputy President,National Media Confederation, Vivek sukla, Senior journalist & Writter, Jawahar Jayrath, Senior Journalist and Film Producer; Sanjay Rai, President of IMA; ,Dhreej kumar, RPM National Treasurer and Dr. Pabitra Mohan Samantaray, National President of the RASHTRIYA PATRAKAAR MAHASANGH

Dr. Samantaray, in his keynote address, highlighted the indispensable role of journalists in upholding democracy. “The safety of journalists isn’t just about their personal rights; it’s about defending the core of our democratic values. If journalists aren’t safe, the voice of the people is silenced. We stand united on this issue and will raise it at every opportunity,” he asserted.

Speakers at the event expressed grave concern over the increasing threats faced by journalists, emphasizing that these assaults jeopardize not only their personal safety but also freedom of speech and expression. They unanimously advocated for a dedicated journalist safety law, urging the government to act decisively and take tangible steps to address the issue.

The gathering concluded with a strong call for unity, urging journalists and citizens alike to defend press freedom. RASHTRIYA PATRAKAAR MAHASANGH emphasized that the protection of journalists is essential for safeguarding democracy itself.

They voiced their collective support for stronger protections and pledged to stand united against injustice.

As the event wrapped up, the RASHTRIYA PATRAKAAR MAHASANGH resolution to advocate for the implementation of a journalist safety law. The Rashtriya patrakaar Mahasangh reaffirmed its commitment to raising this issue at the national level and ensuring its resonance across all segments of society.
