The 25th annual celebration and silver jubilee of Sukinda Press Club was held on Sunday at the Tata Steel Katepurti Auditorium in Kaliapani. The program was presided over by the President of the Press Club, Biswajit Nayak. The state government’s Minister for Cooperative Handicrafts, Handicrafts and Textiles, Dr. Pradeep Balasamaant, attended the program as the chief guest and considered journalists as the watchdogs of society. Social reforms are created due to their tireless work. The state government has taken note of the various demands of journalists and has promised to take necessary steps in this regard. Pankaj Satija, Executive In-charge of Tata Steel Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division (FAMD), was the guest of honour at the event, while Rashtriya Patrakaar Mahasangh National President Dr. Pabitra Mohan Samantraray was the chief speaker and presented the demand to the Minister of Cooperatives to provide Monthly Pension to journalists in Odisha like other states.Dr Samantaray also urged the state government to introduce Journalist protection Bill and increase the journalist health insurance amount from ₹5 lakhs to ₹10 lakhs & inclusion of Parents in the Insurance scheme

Kailash Chandra Nayak, State President of State Union of Journalists, and Benudhar Panda, State General Secretary of Utkal Sambadik Sangh, were the guests of honour and drew the attention of the Minister on various problems of journalists. Nilamadhav Nayak, General Secretary of Sukinda Press Club, read out the annual report while Editor Satyajit Dash introduced the guests. On this occasion, Nagada’s Asha Karmi Jayanti Mahamanat was awarded the Sukinda Ratna, and international sportsperson Suharjit Mallick was awarded the Sukinda Ratna. Tata Steel Kalinganagar Corporate Chief Subhranshu Shekhar Panda was honored with the Sukinda Friend and Vedanta Faker Company Officer Ajay Kumar Patra was honored with the Supratyusu Smriti Samman. Kalinganagar Additional Superintendent of Police Shuprasanna Mallick, Kaliapani Police Station Officer Shivprasad Behera, Senior Journalist Shrinath Jena, Odisha Mining Corporation Jajpur Senior Personnel Manager Debashish Samal, Jindal Kaliapani Senior Mining Officer Ramya Ranjan Roy, IMFA’s Sandeep Mishra were among the Invited guests Press Club Executive President Ravindra Kumar Samal and Manoj Kumar Nayak managed the stage. Sukinda Press Club members journalists Asit Kumar Mahanat, Lambadar Dalabehera, Biswanath Sahu, Saroj Nayak, Krupasindhu Keshari, Kapilendra Mahanat, Bimalendu Behura, Nihar Kant Patra, Soumya Ranjan Barik, Deepak Bhatcharya, SK Zahur, Madhusudan Barik took an active part in organizing the main program. Cultural programs were organized by various talents of the mining area. A large number of journalists from the district and neighboring districts participated and were also honored by the Sangha.
