Bhubaneswar: The Subarnapur district administration has ordered the closure of all educational institutions in Subarnapur district till June 20, 2026, in view of the prevailing severe heatwave conditions.
According to an official order issued by the District Collector on June 17, all Anganwadi Centres (AWCs), Schools, Colleges, Technical Institutions, and other educational institutions will remain closed until June 20.However, examinations scheduled during this period will continue as per the existing timetable. The administration has directed that examinations be conducted preferably in the morning hours to minimize students’ exposure to extreme heat.T
The order also instructs heads of all institutions to ensure availability of sufficient safe drinking water and implement necessary heat-wave safety measures for students and staff.
“As the heat wave condition continues to persist in Subarnapur District, it is hereby ordered that all the Anganwadi Centers (AWCs), Schools, Colleges, Technical Institutions and other educational institutions will remain closed until Dt.20.06.2026”, read the notification.
This decision comes as Odisha continues to experience intense heatwave conditions across several districts, prompting authorities to take precautionary steps to protect students from heat-related illnesses.
