The second day of the 2nd National Media Conclave, jointly organised by the Indian Media Congress (IMC) and the Organisation of United Working Journalists (OUWJ), witnessed insightful deliberations on the theme “Developed Odisha 2036” at the Convention Hall of Jagannatha Mandira in the national capital.
The conclave was inaugurated by Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General of the India Meteorological Department, who highlighted the importance of scientific awareness and disaster preparedness in Odisha’s developmental journey.

Among the distinguished speakers were Shri Kuldeep Singh Dhatwalia, former Principal Director General of the Press Information Bureau and former Chief Spokesperson of the Government of India; Dr. Sanjeev Patjoshi, former Director General of Kerala Police; and senior Supreme Court advocate Radheshyam Jena. They emphasised that a developed Odisha by 2036 would require visionary leadership, robust institutions, and a responsible, vigilant media.
The speakers underscored the media’s pivotal role in shaping public discourse, strengthening democratic values, ensuring transparency, and accelerating socio-economic transformation. They called upon journalists to uphold ethical standards, promote fact-based reporting, and engage constructively with governance and policy matters to contribute meaningfully to Odisha’s progress.
The conclave saw participation from hundreds of delegates from Odisha and other states, reflecting the growing national footprint of the organisations. Several journalists and media professionals were felicitated with trophies, certificates, and mementoes in recognition of their dedicated service to the profession.
The session was presided over by Chief Advisor Dr. Pabitra Mohan Samantaray. President Shri Sanjay Das outlined the organisation’s achievements and future roadmap, while Vice President Shri Rajanikant Samantaray presented the annual organisational report. General Secretary Shri Pradyumna Das efficiently coordinated the proceedings, supported by Treasurer Shri Prasanna Prusti and Shri Rajani Jagdev.
Editor Himat and senior member Kamalakant Das drew attention to pressing issues confronting journalists, including professional security, welfare measures, and institutional support. The vote of thanks was proposed by senior member Shri Pravat Prusti.
The programme was ably anchored by Miss Akansha, bringing the deliberations to a purposeful and impactful conclusion.
