Bhubaneswar (KCN): The Fun and Fitness Walkers Club (FFWC), affiliated with Walkers International, celebrated the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram” and the 80th Independence Day of India at N-3 Park, Bhubaneswar, under the presidentship of FFWC President Sudhakar Sadangi.
The programme commemorated the iconic patriotic hymn “Vande Mataram”, written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and published in his historic novel Anandamath. Students, teachers and staff of Maharshi Public School and Quty Kids Public School, members of Shining Star Club, local residents, intellectuals and a large number of walkers and citizens participated in the celebration.

Former Indian Air Force Wing Commander Ashok Mohanty, who actively participated in the 1971 Indo-Pak war and the 1999 Kargil War, attended the programme as the Chief Guest and hoisted the National Flag.
Senior advocate of the Odisha High Court and Bhubaneswar Bar Council Surya Narayan Das, former Director of Health Services Dr. Anjali Chhotray, Director of Maharshi Public School Hena Mahapatra, and Principal of Quty Kids School Sanjukta Panda attended as Guests of Honour.
Students Aditi Tanaya, Hidra Das, Piyushi Bishoi and Suhani Sasmal, who excelled in speech, music and academic activities at their respective schools, were felicitated by the distinguished guests.
The programme was coordinated by FFWC office-bearers and members, including Adviser Kedar Patnaik, Premananda Pusti, former President Ashish Patnaik, Treasurer Pradipta Panda, Vice-Presidents Bhawani Patnaik and Baishnab Ojha, Baburam Sethi, Pratap Rautray, PRO Amiya Sharma and several other members and volunteers.
