Balasore, 17/1(Krushna Kumar Mohanty) A rural-level badminton competition was successfully organised at Palaspur village under Ganguti Gram Panchayat of Sadar Block, marking a significant step towards promoting grassroots sports talent in Balasore district.
The tournament was organised by Abhyudayam Computer Training Institution in collaboration with the District Badminton Association, with official approval from the State Badminton Association.
The event was inaugurated by Sabysachi Pradhan, Chief of Abhyudayam. Former Sarpanch Birupakshya Mahapatra attended as the chief guest.

Among the dignitaries present were Chinmay Kanti Biswal, President of Balasore Badminton Association; social activist Pitabas Acharya; and national para-athlete Sudhakar Sethi, who motivated the players with his address.
Speaking on the occasion, Chinmay Kanti Biswal highlighted the need for indoor stadiums in rural areas to nurture emerging talent and assured institutional support to promising players. Birupakshya Mahapatra praised the initiative and encouraged the youth to aim higher in sports.
Eight teams participated in the tournament. Friends Club emerged as champions, while Bindas Club finished as runners-up. The ACTI Trophy was presented to the winning team by the guests. Chandrakanta Sethi captained the champion team, with Shantanu Mohanty playing a key role in their victory.
The matches were officiated by Satyajit Parida and Ajitabh Nayak. The organisers announced plans to host a state-level badminton championship next year to further promote rural sports talent.
The event concluded on a successful note, drawing appreciation from players, officials, and the local community.
