Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Anu Garg today held a virtual meeting with all District Collectors to review preparations for the smooth conduct of the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21.
She stressed the need for a clean, safe and secure system, noting that NEET is an important national-level exam. The Chief Secretary directed all district administrations to take necessary steps for successful organisation of the exam. Special emphasis was laid on security arrangements, safe transportation of test materials, preparation of test centres and coordination among departments.
The NEET exam will be held on June 21 from 2 pm to 5:15 pm. A total of 56,983 candidates will appear across 132 examination centres in 27 cities of Odisha. The meeting directed that a magistrate, adequate police officers and support staff be deployed at each centre.
Home Department Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma and Higher Education Commissioner and Secretary Arvind Agarwal attended the meeting and discussed exam arrangements.
Secretaries of other concerned departments were also present. District and police administrations were advised to keep strict watch on social media and take immediate action against suspicious activities to prevent rumours, misinformation or malpractices related to the exam. Instructions were issued to strengthen traffic management during the exam, provide special facilities for women and disabled candidates, and ensure CCTV coverage and security at all centres.
Collectors were asked to hold district-level review and coordination meetings for preparation. With International Day of Yoga also falling on June 21, the Chief Secretary directed that separate administrative and police arrangements be made for smooth management of both programmes.
National Testing Agency Director General Abhishek Singh is coordinating with the state government for proper management of the examination. On behalf of the state government, the Higher Education Department Secretary is overseeing exam preparations.
