Diwali, also known as Deepawali, is one of the most significant and joyful festivals of Hinduism. It is celebrated with great devotion, happiness, and enthusiasm across India and around the world. The word Deepawali means a row of lights or earthen lamps (Diyas). It symbolises the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, truth over falsehood, and good over evil.
According to the Hindu epic Ramayana, Diwali commemorates the return of Lord Shri Rama, Mata Sita, and Lakshmana to Ayodhya after completing fourteen years of exile and defeating the demon king Ravana. The people of Ayodhya welcomed them by lighting thousands of earthen lamps and celebrating their return. Since then, this auspicious occasion has been celebrated as Deepawali, symbolising the victory of righteousness and the return of hope, peace, and happiness.
The real objective of Diwali is not merely to decorate our homes, wear new clothes, exchange gifts, or enjoy fireworks. Its deeper purpose is to remove darkness from our hearts and bring positive changes into our lives. Dewali Inspire us to Spread love, kindness, peace, and brotherhood. Remove ego, hatred, jealousy, and negative thinking. Respect elders and support the needy. Practise honesty, humanity, and selfless service. Strengthen family relationships and social harmony.
The life of Lord Shri Rama teaches us valuable lessons of patience, sacrifice, discipline, truthfulness, respect, responsibility, and commitment to duty. Despite facing difficulties, He never abandoned righteousness. His life reminds us that success is meaningful only when it is guided by truth, humility, compassion, and humanity.
The greatest inspiration from Ramayana is that we should become a source of light in someone else’s life. Instead of finding faults in others, we should improve ourselves and serve humanity with a positive attitude.
In Hinduism, Diwali is a sacred festival associated with Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha, prosperity, wisdom, devotion, and new beginnings. It encourages spiritual awakening, gratitude, family unity, and the purification of our thoughts and actions.
Let Every Heart Become a Diya. Let this Diwali be more than a festival of lights; let it become a celebration of positive thinking, noble intentions, and selfless service. Light a lamp of kindness, spread happiness through your actions, and bring hope into the lives of those who need it most.
Wishing You and Your Family a Very Happy, Peaceful, Prosperous, and Blessed DIWALI!
